“As a new social enterprise, we were delighted to find people wanting to volunteer with us but this was a new & an unknown area. So we contacted Finders Keepers for a consultation and an advice package. Elle gave very clear and creative advice which was specifically designed around Little Kitchen Magicians. The package that she delivered exceeded our expectations and has put us on the right path.”
“After being approached by Finders Keepers, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust decided to seek their advice with regard to recruitment in their Camborne Superstore. Jackie Eastwood, CAAT’s Volunteer Coordinator and the Camborne shop’s Manager, Jason Burley, arranged to meet with Elle Fletcher in the shop to discuss all aspects of volunteering, the business of running a major shop and where CAAT is in terms of processes. Elle listened and wrote quite lot before retreating to consider her findings.
A couple of weeks later Elle presented Jackie with a comprehensive Advice and Guidance covering all aspects of recruitment and retention. It included a basic step by step Action Plan which could be delivered either by Finders Keepers or the charity themselves.
Jackie says ‘Finders Keepers have provided the charity with a means of fulfilling our recruitment targets. I will be working on the Action Plan over the coming weeks, but ultimately it is a long term guide which we can refer to at any time to ensure we are retaining volunteers for the benefit of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. Thanks Elle.”
“I run Marias Animal Shelter and would like to say what a pleasure it was to meet Elle. We met up for an initial meeting and discussed the shelter and the problems that I encounter there. I felt inspired by the meeting and left feeling very positive.
Elle then arranged a facilitation meeting with the volunteers, where she encouraged them to tell her the pros and cons of being at the shelter. The volunteers enjoyed themselves and there was lots of good comments on how it went.
Elle and myself then had a follow up meeting where she gave me a detailed report on the meeting and went over all that had happened, and where she could see changes needed to be made.
Because Elle is not part of our team she could see things that others could not.
Finders Keepers is a very worthwhile company and Elle certainly has the passion to motivate others to move in an upward and positive manner to enable them to reach their goal.”
“When starting our new venture, Intentional Health, we recognised its success is completely dependent on the quality of our future volunteers.
The prospect of where to start with recruitment and training was fairly daunting, and though we had some ideas, it was important to us to make sure we had a really efficient system from the start that we could be confident in for recruitment, and for the ongoing ‘looking after’ of these volunteers.
So we asked Finders Keepers for a free consultation to see if they would be able to make the process any easier for us.
At the end of a very friendly consultation, Elle Fletcher suggested that the best way forward was for Finders Keepers to write an Advice & Guidance document detailing everything she felt we needed in relation to volunteers; which we agreed to. We were subsequently presented with a thick glossy document detailing each step of what we needed to do, and why – which also gave us some context regarding why we should do certain things in a certain order.
It included a bullet pointed to do list at the end, which we were then able to go through in a methodical step by step process (which meant the whole prospect of starting work with volunteers was no longer so daunting). We also had the option to task Finders Keepers to undertake individual elements, which we did for many of the tasks.
Handing these elements over to experts in the field has been invaluable to Intentional Health; it has been such a relief to know that this huge and vital element of our work is being taken care of by someone with a huge level of previous experience, and we have been extremely pleased with everything Elle has produced for us.
We will no doubt be asking Finders Keepers for additional support in the future once we have volunteers in post.”
As the pace of The Crooked Thicket project took off, we felt we needed to seek some advice regarding the involvement of volunteers. Elle Fletcher from Finders Keepers came to have a look around our premises and advised us on how volunteers could be involved in the project – including involvement in the set up, which was something we hadn’t considered. She also highlighted opportunities for corporate volunteering which, again, was something we hadn’t considered. Elle gave us lots of ideas regarding opportunities for volunteers and methods of motivating and keeping them once on board, which has been invaluable to us.
Finders Keepers helped me understand how having an intern and eventually a team of volunteers could really help me grow my business. The consultation was really thorough and because of their extensive knowledge base and experience they ensured that I would have all the necessary information to help me recruit and retain a potential asset to my company. I would definitely recommend Finders Keepers to all business no matter how large or small.
Finders Keepers is a consultancy. We operate on an ad-hoc basis and organisations pay us either at an hourly rate for a minimum of just one hour's work, or they can enter into a retainer agreement with us whereby we guarantee them a set number of hours support per month.
